Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 04 Mar. 1909.
At the home of her aunt, Mrs. Moran, at Struble, Iowa, on Feb. 23rd, 1909, occurred the death of Agnes Neylan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Neylan, of this place, after an illness of only two days, of appendicitis.
Agnes was born in Boardman twp., this county, in September, 1885, and resided here until about two years ago, when she went to Struble and has been engaged in teaching.
Her remains were brought to Elkader last Friday by her father, accompanied by her two sisters and a cousin, John Moran, of Struble.
The funeral was held Saturday morning at St. Joseph's church, Rev. J. F. Reilly officiating, and was attended by a large concourse of sympathizing friends.
Miss Agnes is survived by her father, four sisters, Jennie, Mary, Susie and Margaret, and two brothers, James and Johnnie.
It is sad that a bright young life should be so suddenly cut off, and we wonder why. But the ways of Providence are beyond our knowledge and we must submit, believing that His ways are for good. We can only sympathize with our mourning friends.
