The death of Mrs. Henry Jennings occurred at her home two miles northwest of here Tuesday evening. She had been ill for some time, having suffered a stroke a few weeks ago and a second one on Friday, July 20.
Funeral services were held Friday morning at the Methodist church at 10:30 o'clock. Rev. A. B. Chamberlain, pastor, officiated at the services and at Hill Crest cemetery, where burial was made.
The casket was bourne by G. G. Kirkpatrick, John Follon, W. E. Ewing, W. E. Chase, D. E. Lowe and James Jellings.
Allie E. Walters, daughter of Martin and Susan Walters, was born at Wadena, Iowa, July 3, 1866. The vicinity of her birth was her home until she went to West Union to attend high school. Later she was a student at Western college, Toledo, Iowa. For several years she was a teacher in country schools and at Wadena.
Her father was a Civil War soldier for three years, serving in the regiment in which Joseph Jennings was also a soldier.
She and Henry Jennings were married March 24, 1889. They made their home with Mrs. Jennings parents for two years and then came to Volga community where they have lived since that time. They are parents of four children: Mrs. Grace White and Lyle, of Volga; Theron of Smithshire, Ill., and Mrs. Chrystle Beauchat of Philadelphia, Penn. one sister, Mrs. George Jennings, lives at Wadena, and a brother, John Walters, at West Union.
Mrs. Jennings became a Christian when a young girl, and united with the United Brethren church at Wadena. She brought her church letter to Volga and has been an active member in the Methodist church. She has been a regular Sunday school and church attendant for several years.
She died at her home near Volga on July 24, 1934, after several weeks of severe illness. Her age was 68 years and 21 days.
