Clayton County Register, Thur., 28 Jun. 1934.
Arthur Weseman died at his home in Guttenberg on Sunday evening at the age of 35 years following a several days illness. Mr. Weseman was born at Guttenberg, Ia., March 20, 1899, the greater part of his life having been spent here. He was married at Guttenberg to Miss Hulda Homann on July 15, 1925. Mr. Weseman attended the Guttenberg public schools. When a young man he served an apprenticeship in learning the blacksmith's trade, for a time operating a blacksmith shop at Littleport. Of late he had been employed on the construction work of locks No. 10 in the Mississippi river here.
Several days ago he became ill and all that loving hands could do and medical knowledge could suggest was done for him to save his life, but all of no avail. His untimely death is mourned by his wife; four small children, Delos, Rosa, Marion and Irene; six sisters, Mrs. Ferdinand Thiese and Miss Martha Weseman of Clayton township, Mrs. J. R. Curran and Mrs. Rudolph Woock of Guttenberg, Mrs. Herman Blunk of near Gaarnavillo and Mrs. T. E. Prouty of Marquette; one brother, Louis Weseman, of California, and many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. W. J. F. Adix at St. John's American Lutheran church in Guttenberg on Wednesday afternoon with burial in the City cemetery. The funeral was largely attended. The family has the sympathy of all in this community.
