Clayton County Register, Thur., 31 May 1934.

The subject of our sketch, Mr. Henry Storbeck, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Christian Storbeck, was born in Germany, September 22, 1853, and passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Freda Eggiman, Tuesday morning, May 22, at four o'clock. The deceased reached the age of eighty years and eight months. Mr. Storbeck received his education in the schools of Germany. He was confirmed in the Lutheran faith at the age of fourteen. He took up the trade of brick-laying. In the year 1887, he was united in marriage to Wilhelmina Schultz. To this union five children were born. three sons and two daughters. One son died in infancy. The first years of their married life were spent in Germany. In the year 1891 he came to this country, and on September 8, of the same year, arrived in Clayton county and settled in Clayton Center, where he and his family resided for eighteen months. They then moved to a farm in Boardman township where he engaged in farming until he retired in the year 1913, when the family moved to Elkader.

The deceased was a charter member of the Frieden's Evangelical Church, and was active in bringing this organization about. He was one of those who helped to solicit funds for the purchase of the first church of this congregation. For many years he served as a member of the church council. When the infirmities that come with age made it impossible for him to attend services regularly, he regretted it greatly.

In the year 1926, his wife was called to her reward. For the last several years he made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Fred Eggiman where the best of care and attention that loving hands and hearts could give to make his declining years comfortable was given. Although hampered by the weaknesses of age for several years, he was only confined to his bed for five days, during which time his daughters, Mrs. Charles Felker and Mrs. Fred Eggiman, made his last hours as comfortable as possible.

He leaves to mourn his departure, Mr. August Storbeck of Boardman township, Mr. William of Elkader, Mrs. Fred Eggiman of Boardman and Mrs. Charles Felker of Boardman. One brother, August, of Strawberry Point, and one sister in Germany, eleven grandchildren and many friends.

Services were held at the home of Fred Eggiman Friday afternoon at 1 o'clock and at the Evangelical church at 2 p.m. Burial was made in the East Side cemetery.
