The body of William H. Schoch, a former Clayton county resident, was brought to Guttenberg Monday afternoon and laid to rest in the City cemetery here. Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Dale D. Welch. Deceased was born at Elkader 52 years ago, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Schoch, deceased. He was the owner of a barber shop at 536 Main street, Dubuque, and died at Finley hospital there at 3:55 p.m. Friday. He was married December 20th, 1923, to Anna Kohler who preceded him in death almost six months.
About two weeks ago Mr. Schoch suffered a stroke and early last week he suffered another.
Before operating a shop of his own, Mr. Schoch was employed in several Dubuque shops and for many years was located in a shop at the Hotel Julien Dubuque. His wife died in the past year.
Surviving relatives are three sisters, Mrs. W. C. Monlux, St. Olaf; Mrs. Otto Heise, Star City, Ind.; Miss Louise Schoch, Dubuque, and many other relatives and friends.
Mr. Schoch received his early education in the Elkader public schools. When a young man he served his apprenticeship in learning the barber's trade in a barber shop at Elkader, many years ago going to Dubuque, where the remainder of his ambitious life was spent. He will be sadly missed by all those who knew him.
