Mrs. James Crain died Wednesday morning, Aug. 23rd, after a lingering illness. Jane Broker, daughter of Thos. and Phoebe Broker, was born at Lockport, N.Y., Feb. 14th, 1853. She was married to James Crain, Aug. 3rd, 1871. Two children were hers, William, who died in infancy, and Delos, who lives on the family farm. Two step-daughters, Mrs. C. S. Adams, and Mrs. E. White, who remember her only as mother, are left with the husband to mourn the loss of one the memory of whose life is equaled by few in this world. A great sufferer for more that twelve years and helpless with rheumatism, she was never known to complain or speak other than that it was for the best. A truly consecrated life that leaves the fragrance behind and though they mourn, can not wish it otherwise. She was beloved by the whole neighborhood for her kindness and few can leave a memory behind so helpful and useful to others. A large assemblage of friends gathered at her late home Friday afternoon and Rev. Smith,, of the Presbyterian church read the Scriptures, and Mrs. Smith offered prayer, while Rev. Elwick, of the M.E. church, gave a touching talk on her life and the large number of floral offerings given by loving hands, attested the esteem n which she was held by all. The interment was in the Volga cemetery beside her loved ones.
