At the residence of her son John at Elkader, about six o'clock Wednesday evening, March 22nd, 1905, of old age, occurred the death of Mrs. Christopher Freund.

Mary Ann Dill was born at Frankfort on the Main, Germany, Jan. 9th, 1822.

In 184_ (looks like 1846 or 1848) she was united in marriage with Christopher Freund at Baltimore, Md. In 1854 they came to Clayton county residing at Guttenberg for two years. They then went on a farm near Bagley, Wis., where they resided six years and then moved to Clayton where Mr. Freund engaged in the livery business. For twelve years her husband carried the mail between Clayton and Elkader. Mr. Freund died about fifteen years ago. Three years ago the deceased came to Elkader to reside. To them were born six children, two only surviving, John at Elkader, a daughter at Syracuse, N.Y. She has three sisters living at Baltimore, Md.

Deceased was a worthy old lady enjoying the friendship of a host of friends who will regret her departure.

Services will be held at ten o'clock Friday morning at the residence after which the remains will be taken to Clayton by train, to be laid beside those of her husband.
