Elkader Register, Thur., 10 Nov. 1904. From the Democrat, undated.

George J. Klotzbach died at St. Mary's hospital at Rochester, Minn., Tuesday, Nov. 01, at 4:15 p.m. Although George had been ailing for some time his sudden death was a shock to his relatives and many friends, and his untimely death has caused universal sorrow. George Klotzbach was born January 08, 1871, and grew to manhood in this community. He was known as a man of honor, sincere and honest in his friendship, competent in his duties. George has a host of friends and no enemies. For a number of years he has been an employee of the C.M. & St. P. Ry. Co. being station agent at Froelich, later night operator at Giard Station, and for the past year agent at Farmersburg. Although his health began to fail about a year ago, George kept at his work until a few weeks ago when relatives took him to St. Mary's hospital at Rochester, Minn., where he underwent an operation. All that medical skill and loving hands could do was done, but God willed it otherwise and called him in the prime of life. He bore his sufferings without complaint, although he realized that death was near, he said "It's God's will" and passed away.

October 26th, 1898, he was married to Miss Zella Nichols. To this union were born two children. He was a kind and indulgent father and husband, and will be sadly missed in the family circle. The deceased is survived by his wife, two daughters, Osbette and Gladys, his father, mother, five sisters and three brothers. Funeral services were held at the home of Dr. C. E. Nichols and at the church. Services were conducted by Rev. Hall, of McGregor, assisted by Rev. Hilmer. The large circle of friends who gathered at the home and church testified to the high esteem in which the departed one was held. Interment was in the Giard cemetery. The bereaved family have the sympathy of all.- Democrat.
