In 1891 she came with her parents to North McGregor, which place was her home from that time until May 17th, 1905, when she was united in marriage to Mr. Bratsberg. Shortly after their marriage the young couple moved to Dubuque, where on May 27, 1909 their little son, Arnold Odin, was born, and where the young mother gradually faded from the sight of her loved ones.
On Oct. 22nd the dying mother and little son were both baptised by Rev. Prantengeyer, of the Lutheran Church of Dubuque and just three days afterward the frail life of Rose went out.
Her remains were brought to North McGregor on Wednesday morning and her funeral was held from the M.E. Church, Rev. Wyatt officiating.
There are left to mourn Mrs. Bratsberg's loss, besides the young husband and infant son, her father, David Fields, sister, Mrs. Ed. Ferris, brother, Will Fields of this place, brother, Chas. Fields, of Mason City and brother, Robert Fields, of St. Johns, Oregon.
Thus the reaper has borne away another from among us, who was beloved by all who knew her, to rest -- eternal rest.
Oh! wish her not back to earth again,
For over there she has rest,
Released from all earths care and pain
Safe -- safe on Jesus' breast. This passing out, it is not death,
This cutting off from earth,
This breathing out of mortal breath,
Is but the spirit's birth.~McGregor News, Wednesday, November 3, 1909
