Friends of Mr. and Mrs. O.F. Solomon, former residents in this vicinity, but now of Wheelock, North Dakota, will be pained to hear of Mrs. Solomon's death, and we print the obituary below.
At an early hour Friday morning August 23rd, the Angel of Death called and took the spirit of Mrs. Sarah Solomon to her heavenly home. Mrs. Solomon died at the Northwood Deaconess Hospital where she was taken on August 12th for medical aid but as her ailment was so deep seated that medical aid was of no avail.
Sarah Peterson was born at McGregor, Clayton Co., Iowa, April 13, 1861. In the year 1890 she was married to Oscar F. Solomon of McGregor. They were blessed with a union of six children, all girls, four of them having preceeded their mother to their Heavenly Home.
Mr. Solomon and two daughters, Eda and Sadie and the deceased's sister, Mrs. Margaret Peterson of Aneta, N.D., were at the bedside when death came.
The funeral was held at the West Union Lutheran Church of Northwood, Rev. T. Tjornhom preached the sermon both in English and Norwegian, choosing for his text the 5th verse of the 11 chapter of Hebrews. Mrs. Solomon was a devoted Christian and took great pains in instructing her children in the Bible. Her last words were, "At home with Jesus awaits us Everlasting peace."
In 1904 Mr. and Mrs. Solomon removed with their family to N.D. where one year later they settled on what is now their farm but at that time it was nothing but prairie.
Besides a husband, two daughters and a sister, she leaves a large circle of friends to mourn her loss.
