Elkader Register, Thur., 04 Feb. 1904. Strawberry Point column.
Sunday afternoon, Jan. 31st, 1904, the angel of death visited the home of A. C. Gibbs and wife and the spirit of little Arthur, their eleven months old and only child departed this life, after a short illness and in spite of medical skill and tender nursing. Little Arthur was born at Klemme, Iowa, Feb. 22nd, 1903, and moved here with his parents in May 1903. When told to lay up treasures in heaven what greater treasure could these sorrowing parents have than their only child. May the parents be consoled with the thought that their little one has only gone before to Him who said: "Suffer little children to come to me and forbid them not for of such is the kingdom of Heaven." Friends extend the parents and relatives their sympathy, but that cannot heal their wounded hearts. Friends covered the little white casket with many beautiful flowers which were a fitting emblem to the little darling. Short services were conducted at the home Monday morning, Rev. DePuy officiating, after which the parents accompanied the remains to Klemme, where funeral services and burial were to take place Tuesday.
