Word received from the hospital at Independence announces the death of Josh Garlow at that place Wednesday morning. His remains will be brought to his home at Updegraff for burial. Mr. Garlow has been a resident of Mallory township for the past forty years and always been known as an honorable, upright man. The bereaved family have the sympathy of all in their sad affliction. The funeral takes place Friday.

Mr. Joshua Garlow died last week at the hospital at Independence, where he was taken for treatment about three weeks ago. His daughter, Mrs. Ed Simonds, went to Independence on Monday, and was with him in his last hours.
The remains were brought to his home at Updegraff on Thursday, the funeral being held Friday at the United Brethern church, and conducted by Rev. J. B. Sullivan. Interment was made in the Brown cemetery.
Mr. Garlow was past eighty years of age, and had long been in feeble health. He is survived by his wife and nine children, five sons - John, Charles, James, Frank and William - and four daughters - Mrs. Sarah Funk, Edgewood; Mrs. Mary Simonds, Updegraph; Mrs. Katie Griffin, New Hampton; and Mrs. Hattie Smith.
Mrs. Garlow was unable to attend the funeral on account of sickness.
