John Pahlas.
At the residence of George Humke at this place on Saturday evening, Nov. 22nd, occurred the death of John Palas, of Farmersburg. He has been here about a week seeking medical relief.
Mr. Pahlas was born in Germany Oct. 14th, 1831, the son of Jacob and Eliza Palas, and came to America in 1855, and shortly afterward came to this country, and engaged in farming. In 1858 he married Carolina Prust, by whom he had three children. She died Feb. 6th, 1864, and that year he married Carolina Voss. By this union ten children were born to him. Deceased is survived by his wife and ten children.
Mr. Palas came to this country in limited circumstances, having only $25., but by his industry and perseverance accumulated a fine property in Farmersburg twp. He was well known as an upright, honest man, and enjoyed the respect of all who knew him. His death will be mourned by a large circle of friends.
His remains were taken to Farmersburg Sunday and on Tuesday the funeral was held at Clayton Center, and was very largely attended by sorrowing friends of the family.
