Elkader Register, Thur., 15 May 1902. Jefferson Column.

On Wednesday of last week occurred the death of Chas. Davis, an old soldier living four miles southwest of this place, of cancer of the stomach. He had suffered terribly for more than a year when death came to relieve. A wife and eight children survive him.

Note: He served in Co. A, 45th IL Inf. during the Civil War. Burial is in Colesburg - Oak Hill Cemetery
