PIONEER DEAD
Dr. Frederick Andros, the first physician to locate west of the Mississippi, died yesterday at the age of 92 years at his daughter's home in Minneapolis. Dr. Andros was the son of a New England clergyman and hero of the Revolutionary war, and married Eliza Bunker, descendant of the owner of Bunker Hill.

After graduating in medicine in Massachusetts, where he was born 92 years ago, he removed to Paris, Canada, fled from there because he had been a party to the revolutionary conspiracy; reached Detroit o foot, assisted in quelling an epidemic of cholera there in 1834, and in 1838 came to Dubuque to practice medicine.

In 1843 he was elected to represent a northern Iowa county in the territorial legislature, and secured the adoption of a bill changing the county seat from Guttenburg to Jacksonville, now Garnavillo.

In 1846 the government appointed him physician to the Winnebago Indians. While stationed with them at Blue Earth in 1854 he was elected to the Minnesota legislature.

He returned to Garnavillo later and in 1861 removed to McGregor. While residing there he was one of a party which built a railroad from McGregor to Winona, which is now a part of the Chicago, Milwaukee and St. Paul. He was surveyor for the Milwaukee road at Mitchell, S. Dakota, until 1889.

The Masons, of which body he was a member for seventy years, conducted the funeral.
