Elkader Register, Thur., 27 Nov. 1879.

DIED- On Monday, Nov. 24th, 1879 at his residence near Littleport, August Gootschalk [sic], of inflammation of the bowels, aged 60 years, 9 months and 8 days.

The deceased was born at Muehlenhagen, Prussia, February 17th, 18__. In 1855 he settled in Clayton Co., where he has since resided. He leaves a wife and seven children to mourn his death. The funeral occurred from his late residence near Littleport, yesterday, and was largely attended by friends and relatives.
