Elkader Register, Thur., 24 July 1879. Tow and County column.

Henry Kurtz, a prominent citizen of McGregor, was prostrated with a paralytic stroke on the 16th and becoming worse, died on Sunday morning.
He was an old resident of that city and was highly respected by all, as an exemplary citizen and good friend. He was buried by the Mason order, of which he had been an honored member for many years.

Note: Gravestone in Pleasant Grove spells surname as KURZ
