Elkader Register, Thur., 17 July 1879. McGregor column.

On Friday last while in swimming with some young lads, about 1/2 mile below town, James McCall, son of ex-Alderman McCall, got beyond his depth, and was drowned. He had a piece of plank, not large enough to float him, but sufficient to keep the body floating, and it was found Monday 30 miles below here.
