Elkader Register, Thur., 26 June 1879.

DIED- McDowell - At her home in Mallory township, on Wednesday June 18th, 1879, of heart disease, Mrs. McDowell, aged _6 years (looks like 66 years)

She is the mother of Wm. and N. McDowell and has long been a sufferer from a disease that baffled the skill of her physicians. On the day of her death she had been up and had written a letter; complaining of being sleepy, she laid down to rest and died within a few minutes, her spirit passing quietly to that bourne beyond the waters. A kind mother and friend has gone, may she rest in peace. The funeral, at the Colesburg cemetery, was largely attended by relatives and friends.
