DIED- At the home of her son, in Otisville, March 21st, of old age, Mrs. Lydia E. Otis, aged 81 years, 1 month, 29 days.

Mrs. Otis was born at St. Vincent, one of the West India Islands, in 1798. In 18_2 (looks like 1852) she emigrated to Iowa and settled in Elk township, the present site of Otisville. Mrs. Otis was the mother of 12 children, of whom but 4 survive her. Her husband died a number of years ago. She was the mother of ex-supervisor Otis, with whom she made her home in her old age. She has suffered a great deal for the last 4 or 5 years, and was nearly blind. She was highly esteemed by all who knew her, for her many virtous qualities. The funeral occurred at the Colesburg cemetery, and her remains were followed to their final resting place by a large concourse of friends and relatives. The funeral sermon was delivered by Rev. McLean of Colesburg.
