Died, Friday, Sept. 10th, 1897, Henry Piehl, aged 73 years. The deceased was born in Mecklenburg and came to America in 1851. He remained at Buffalo, N.Y., two years, from which place he moved to Elkader, in the year 1855 he moved onto his farm n Volga twp., where he resided until his death. During his forty-two years residence in Volga twp. he has made many friends and has always been regarded as an honest, upright man. Mr. Piehl leaves two sons, Charles and William, and one daughter, Mrs. Mary Laxson, of Earlville, to mourn the loss of a kind and affectionate parent. The funeral took place Sunday and was one of the largest ever held in Elkport, showing the great esteem his neighbors and friends had for him. Rev. Fritschel officiated.
