At the family residence in Read twp., on Saturday Nov. 11th, occurred the death of Wilhemine, wife of Henry Elfert, after an illness of three weeks. Wilhemine Breitsprecher was born April 23d 1860, in Leippen, province of Pommern, Germany, coming to Clayton Center in 1868. She was married to Mr. Elfert Feb. 11th, 1877; to this union two children were born of which one daughter survives. Besides the husband and daughter, her parents and one sister mourn her untimely demise. The funeral held Monday at Clayton Center, was largely attended, Rev. Seifert officiated. A large number of sorrowing friends were in attendance among whom was the Women's Verein of which Mrs. Elfert was a devoted member. A delegation of the Modern Woodmen of Elkader, were present and acted as pall bearers.
