Elkader Register, Thur., 09 Mar. 1899. Elkport & Vicinity columns.
Elias Hall, one of the oldest settlers of this part of the county, died Tuesday morning. About a year ago Mr. Hall suffered a paralytic stroke which greatly enfeebled him. Tuesday morning he suffered another stroke and died before the doctor arrived. Mr. Hall was about 72 years of age and has been a resident of Elk township for the past 45 years. The death of Mr. Hall creates profound sorrow in our community. He was an honest, upright man. He had not an enemy in the world. Always kind and gentle and a friend to everyone. It may be truly said of him that he was one of God's noblest works, an honest concientious man. He had the respect and love of all, and his death is mourned by our entire community. He leaves a wife and four grown children to mourn the loss of a kind, affectionate husband and father. The sympathy of our entire community is extended to the bereaved family. The funeral will take place Sunday at 12:30 p.m. from the family home.
