Clayton County Register, Thur., 26 Sept. 1929.

After an illness of almost eleven months, Mrs. Louis Stahl passed away at her home in Cox Creek Twp., Saturday evening, Sept. 21, 1929, at the age of 50 years, ten months and six days.

Deceased, Mary Ann, daughter of Patrick Corcoran and wife Kate, nee Moor, was born in Read Twp., Clayton County, Iowa, Nov. 15, 1878.

In the year 1900 she was married to Louis Stahl, and at once began house-keeping on the farm which was her home up to the day of her departure.

On Nov. 5th of last year she suffered a stroke of apoplexy. When her condition permitted, she was taken to a private home in Elkader, then to the Lenth hospital, where she remained for several months. She received the best care possible; and nothing was left undone by the husband to give comfort and relief, and if possible prolong the life of his life's partner. Although improving very slowly she was finally able to be taken home. This was a glad day for both. She was seemingly gaining in strength, so that she could be taken out for a ride occasionally. On Friday morning of last week she accompanied her husband to Volga City, and seemed to be in the best of spirits all day, but in the evening, while getting ready to retire for the night, she suffered another stroke, from which she never rallied, and twenty-four hours later, on Saturday night, at about eight o'clock she closed her eyes in the last sleep.

The sympathy of the entire community is with the husband in this sore bereavement. She also leaves one brother, John Corcoran, and two half-brothers, tom and Mike Kilfoil.

The departed was of a quiet and unassuming disposition, a loving wife, a kind neighbor, a patient sufferer, often smiling through the tears. She was affiliated with the Evangelical church, and was also a member of the Royal Neighbors. "May she rest in peace."

Funeral services were held at the late home Tuesday afternoon and at two o'clock services were held in the Evangelical church here. Interment was made in the East Side cemetery, with Rev. C. H. Franke officiating.
