Clayton County Register, Thur., 11 July 1929. Monona column.

Mrs. Henry Henkes passed away at her home Tuesday morning. The cause of her death was a paralytic stroke. She is survived by her husband, Henry Henkes, two sons, Monroe and Howard of Luana, three daughters, Mrs. John Krambeer of Postville, Mrs. Fred Kurth, Jr., of Luana, and Mrs. Joseph Russell of Farmersburg; three brothers, Harry C. Moon, Monona, William Moon, Farmersburg, and Frank Moon, Mason City. Funeral services were held Friday at 11 o'clock at the Gooding church, with burial in the Gooding cemetery.

Mrs. Fannie Elizabeth (Moon) Henkes departed from this life early Tuesday morning, July 2. 1929. She was born in Wagner Township near here December 25, 1862, and therefore reached the age of 66 years, 6 mos. and 7 days.

She was united in marriage to Henry Henkes May 18, 1881, whom she leaves to mourn with their children - namely: Monroe and wife; Clara (Mrs. John Krambeer); Cora (Mrs. Fred Kurth);
Lottie (Mrs. Joe Russell); and Howard and wife, all living near home. Three daughters have preceded her in death. She also leaves twenty-four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, three brothers - Will of Farmersburg, Frank of Mason City, and Harry of Monona, and one sister, Mamie, of Oelwein.

Mrs. Henkes was a very good woman, a loving wife, a kind sympathetic, industrious mother, always mindful of her family. She will be greatly missed; having always lived in this vicinity, she was well acquainted and highly respected by all who knew her.

The pall bearers were all grandsons, namely Harold Krambeer, Lester Krambeer, Kenneth Krambeer, Eldon Kurth, Lloyd Russell, and Alton Henkes.

The following granddaughters were flower girls: Alberta Henkes, Irene Kurth, Lucille Krambeer, Lorene Kranbeer, Marietta Henkes, Helen Henkes, Irene Krambeer

The funeral was held Friday, July 5, 1929, at the Gooding church. Rev. Hillman of Norwalk, Wis., and Rev. Berg of Monona officiated, with burial in the family lot at the Gooding cemetery.
