Clayton County Register, Thur., 04 Apr. 1929.
Fred Schmidt, aged about sixty years, a resident of Strawberry Point, living in the east part of that community, took his own life by hanging yesterday afternoon, the body being found about five o'clock that afternoon.
Mrs. Schmidt had been in attendance at the Alec Carpenter funeral and it was during the time of her absence from the home that Mr. Schmidt committed his rash deed.
There is no apparent reason for this deed other than that of poor health, which has been discovered as this information is being written. A note, which he is supposed to have left was as follows: "They came after me and I had to go."
No funeral arrangements have been made at this time.
