Mrs. Lewis Staub died here Monday morning, March 25, in the home of her daughter, of heart failure.
Sarah A. (Shaw) Staub was born June 8, 1867, at Paulding, Ohio, the daughter of Cornelius and Rachel Shaw. December 25, 1888, she was married to Lewis Staub at Colesburg, Iowa, and to this union five children were born, James, Edward, Emma (Mrs. Barghahn), Louis and Pauline (Mrs. Otto Doeppke). These, together with two step-daughters, Misses Bertha and Lulu Staub, survive.
Deceased came to this county in 1885 and lived for many years on a farm on the Pony Hollow road. January 18, of this year she removed to Elkader with her daughter. The surviving children are: Edward of Dayton, Ohio; Mrs. Emma Barghahn of Madison, Wis.; Louis of Dubuque; James and Mrs. Otto Doeppke of Elkader. Nine grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon and interment was made in the East Side cemetery, with Rev. A. S. Kilbourn of the Congregational church officiating.
