Clayton County Register, Thur., 21 Feb. 1929.
Otto Gustav Embretson who was born November 13, 1873, at the old Embretson homestead two and one half miles west of St. Olaf, died Thursday, February 14, at the Mercy hospital, Oelwein, Iowa, from cancer.
He grew up as a boy in the St. Olaf community and was baptized and confirmed in the Norway Lutheran church and attended the parochial and public schools. As a young man he clerked in a store in Elkader and was also engaged in Farmersburg for a time. From Farmersburg he moved to Riceville and was united in marriage with Miss Elizabeth Delia Rothermel on February 16, 1911, at Riceville, where they have made their home for some time. They then moved to Oelwein, where they have resided until now. He was engaged in selling pianos and in writing insurance the greater part of the time.
He was attended by Rev. Brolick of Oelwein and by Rev. Tysdal while sick at the hospital. He was satisfied to leave for the home eternal after finding his God. The very best possible was done for him by the physicians and nurses, but to no avail.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, his brothers, Embret, Knut and Ludvig of St. Olaf, and Lars of Kalispell, Montana, and his sister, Mrs. (Johannah) L. J. Larson, of Fossten, Minn. Also many relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at the Norway Lutheran church at 2:30 p.m., February 17, and interment was made in the Norway cemetery, Rev. Tysdal officiating.
