Mrs. John R. Leahy died at the Oelwein hospital Feb. 6, 1929, following an operation for appendicitis, and was buried at Volga City, Friday, Feb. 8, with Father D. R. Cregan officiating.
Mrs. Leahy was formerly Agnes Sarah Quinn. She was born on a farm near Volga City, Nov. 21, 1903, the daughter of Lawrence S. and Kathryn Stella Quinn. at the age of three the deceased moved with her parents to Volga City, where they have since made their home. Besides her father and mother, she leaves to mourn her death her husband, John R. Leahy, one sister, Iowa E., and two brothers, Luke C., Jack E., all at home, and Leonard L., who is employed as construction foreman by the Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. She was preceded in death by one sister, Kathleen Vivian, who died Dec. 15, 1907.
She received her early schooling in the public school at Volga City and graduated from that high school. She later took up beauty culture at the Rose-Blossom school and was graduated.
Sept. 19, 1928, she was united in marriage with John R. Leahy in the Catholic church of Volga City of which she was a member.
Other people attending the funeral were: Mrs. Peter McAvey, Green, Iowa; Miss Margaret Leahy, Riceville, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. John Dallard, West Union, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Clouse, Garnavillo, Iowa; Philip and Mike Leahy, West Union, Iowa; Richard, Margaret and Mayme Meehan 0f Garnavillo, Iowa.
