Mary J. Gowan, the second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. Gowan was born Aug. 3, 1862, near Far__, Iowa, where her early life was spent and where she received her education in the public school and at Epworth Seminary. At an early age she united with the church, remaining a faithful member thru life. Mrs. Robinson was always interested in Christian work and one of her treasured possessions was a certificate of life membership to the Woman's Presbyterian Board of Missions. She was affiliated with the Ladies Auxiliary, the Sunshine Club and the Royal Neighbors. On September 11, 1890, she was united in marriage to F. G. Robinson, who with their three sons, Allen and Kenneth of Volga, and Clifford, of Waterloo, live to mourn her passing. She also leaves two granddaughters, Charla Belle and Jo Ann. With the exception of a few years in Wichita, Kansas, Mrs. L. Robinson, spent the greater part of her life in Cherokee County, Iowa, and the later years at Volga, where she passed away at the home of her son Allen, at the age of 66 years, five months and one day. On Sept. 6, 1926, she was stricken with paralysis and was an invalid until her departure January 4th.
The funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church at Volga, Monday, Jan. 7, Rev. Brown, local pastor, conducted the services. The sermon text was taken from the 23rd Psalm, as it was a favorite of Mrs. Robinson's. Interment was made in Hill Crest cemetery.
