Elkader Register, Thur., 05 Nov. 1925.
Last Monday, November 2nd, at 5 a.m. a dear mother, grandma and sister passed away in the home of her son, William Glawe at Elkader, Iowa. It is Mrs. Frederika Glawe. Our departed sister's cradle stood in the village of Darlien Pommerania, Germany. In the Village of Berenhof in the same province she received the Sacrament of the holy baptism and there she stood before the confirmation alter in order to confess personally her faith. October 29th, 1865, our deceased sister was united in marriage with Mr. John Glawe, who preceded his wife in 1905. In 1876 she came over to this blessed land of Old Glory. To this blessed union were born 12 children, 3 preceded their beloved mother in death. Her 9 children, who are standing weeping before the coffin of their dear mother are: Mrs. William Hueckstadt, Read township; Mrs. Fred Kliefoth, Monona, Iowa; Mr. Fred Glawe, Read township; Mr. Charles Glawe, Farmersburg township; Mr. William Glawe, Elkader, Iowa; Mr. Henry Glawe, Read township; Mr. Ed Glawe, Farmersburg township; Mr. George Glawe, Famersburg, Iowa; Mr. Louis Glawe, Read township; and 22 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren survive their dear grandma. Finally 2 brothers and 2 sisters, one sister living in Chicago, the other sister and two brothers living in the old country, and lots of other relatives, friends and neighbors are going to mourn this departed soul. During her illness she received the Lord's Supper and indeed our departed sister was not only a dear mother and grandmother but also a beloved and kind sister. And all her children did for their dear mother all they could to make her burden light. Our departed sister was also a very loving member of our Ladies Aid Society. She should bring her earthly pilgrimage on 80 years, 9 months and 14 days. She found her last resting place in the old cemetery of our Zions Lutheran church at Clayton Center. Rev. Franke officiating in the mourning house at Elkader, Iowa. Rev. Wm. Wuestenberg spoke impressive words of comfort at the church and at the grave.
May our departed sister rest in peace. May she have entered the eternal kingdom of God.
May She see the dawn of Eternity.
