Elkader Register, Thur., 02 Apr. 1925. Strawberry Point column.

John Simek, aged 80 years, passed away last Tuesday evening, after several weeks illness. Funeral services were held at St. Mary's Catholic church, Thursday morning conducted by the pastor, Father Bowan. Interment took place in the cemetery near the Simek place. Besides his widow there are four sons and four daughters: Joe Simek of Hazelton; Frank Simek of Jordan, Minn.; Charles Simek of Fullerton, N. Dakota; Jack Simek at home; Miss Varabra Simek at home; Mrs. W. Struckman, Mrs. R. Dunsmore and Mrs. C. E. Lang of this place, besides other relatives and friends. Mr. Simek was a life long Catholic and a devout member of St. Mary's church. He was a good husband and father and in his death the family have the sympathy of their many friends.
