Elkader Register, Fri. morning, 05 Nov. 1897.
FRED VOSS.
From the Democrat we learn of the death on Saturday, Oct. 30th, 1897, at his home in Box Butte, Neb., of Fred Voss, formerly of this county, at the age of 69 years. Deceased was an old settler of Cox Creek township, Clayton county, but moved to his late home about ten years ago. His wife, four daughters; Mrs. F. C. Andresen, of Volga City; Mrs. H. L. Gifford, of Littleport; Mrs. P. P. Gifford, of Elkport; Mrs. Rumbaugh, of Nebraska, and one son, Henry Voss, of Volga City, survive him, besides other kindred and many friends who mourn his departure into eternity. Deceased was a member of Bismark Lodge No. 110, A.O.U.W., of Elkader, being the fourth member of this lodge who has passed away during the present year. His old neighbors and friends in this locality speak of him as a man in every sense of the word, true to wife and children, friends and neighbors, honest and upright in all his dealings, and will be kindly remembered by all who knew him. We deeply sympathize with our friends in their sad bereavement.
