Schaub, Ester died 1897

Elkader Register, Fri. morning, 20 Aug. 1897. Giard column.

August 10th, at the home of John Hartwich, occurred the death of Ester, oldest daughter of Rev. Schaub and wife, after a lingering illness with consumption. About a month ago Ester, two sisters and her mother came to the home of John Hartwich with the hopes that a change might help Ester, but Tuesday August 10th, she became seriously ill and at midnight passed away to the haven of rest where pain and suffering are unknown. Ester was thirteen years old and leaves two sisters, two brothers, a father and mother to mourn her loss. The remains were taken to Colesburg for burial Wednesday. The bereaved parents have the sympathy of our entire community.
