Elkader Register, Fri. morning, 28 May 1897.

After an affliction of several months with cancer, Mrs. Patrick Nugent, of Read twp., was relieved of her suffering by death on Friday, May 21st, 1897. She was a native of Ireland, and came to this county at an early age. Her husband died Jan. 13, 1896. Seven children survive the loss of father and mother. The funeral was held Sunday last at St. Joseph's, Rev. Father Reilly officiating. Peace be with her.

(Note: WPA records indicate Ann Nugent, 1835 - 1897, buried in St. Joseph's cemetery.)
