Elkader Register, Fri. morning, 09 Apr. 1897. Littleport column.

Mrs. S. M. Stalnaker passed over the silent river of death last Friday evening, after long and patient suffering for the past four years. She was a woman of noble qualities, and a sunny disposition, and about four years ago was afflicted with a stroke of paralysis, which she bore without a murmur and patiently waited until she was called home. The funeral was held Sunday from their residence and the remains laid to rest in the Littleport cemetery.

(Note: WPA records indicate Lydia A. Stalnaker, 1846 - 02 Apr. 1897, buried in Union cemetery.)
