Another pilgrim has bidden adieu to live on yonder shore. Dieterich Schroeder, an old resident of this place for many years, died last week Thursday at about 83 years of age. While in our midst, his wife died in March 1897. This was a sad event for him and he gradually became very feeble. Last year he took up his abode with his daughter, Mrs. Martha Felscher, at National, and resided there till his death. An aged brother at Emmetsburg, three children, Martha, Margaret, and Edward, and seven grandchildren besides many other relatives and friends survive to mourn his loss.

"The pains of death are past,
Labor and sorrow cease,
And life's long warfare closed at last,
His soul is found in peace."
