Oelwein--Indamora M. "Indy" Martin, 77, of Oelwein died Friday, July 25, 2003 at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo after a sudden illness.
Funeral services are planned for Tuesday, July 29 at 10:30 a.m. at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Hme in Oelwein with the Rev. John Kerr officiation. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein and there will be an American Legion Auxiliary Memorial Service at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery.Indamora Mae "Indy" Martin was born Nov. 18, 1925 at Elkader to Herman and Elsie (Frietag) Kruse. She graduated from Lamont High School in 1943 and then attended Leep Junior College in Chicago for two years. She worked at the Chicago Board of Education for five years.
Indy moved to Santa Anna, Calif. where she married William Basil Martin on Dec. 18, 1976. She worked at the Ticor Title Insurance Company in Santa Anna for 17 years; retiring in March of 1991. Indy and Bill moved back to Oelwein in 1991. Indy was a member of the Oelwein American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband, Bill Martin, of Oelwein; three sons, Bernard (Mary) Thomas Jr. of Oelwein, Larry Thomas of Hazleton, and Daniel (finace Laura) Thomas of Oxnard, Calif.; one sister, LaVon Cheeseman of Elkader; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchilren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Richard.Source: Oelwein Daily Register
