Mrs. John Seitz died at her home on Giard Avenue, Saturday morning April 14, 1900, after an illness of several weeks. Deceased was born in France Dec. 24, 1824, and her name was Catherine Brumm. When five years old she came to this country with her parents, settling in Indiana, where she was married to John Seitz in 184_ (looks like 1846 or 1848). In 1854 they came to this state, and lived near Monona until in the '60s, when they moved to McGregor, which has been their home since. One son and six daughters with their aged father mourn the loss of a kind mother: Mrs. Kate Otis, of Monona; Mrs. Ann Gilbert, of Milwaukee; Leonard, of Cripple Creek; Mrs. Belle Meier, of Postville; Mrs. Marie Blackburn, Mrs. Rose Knowles and Mrs. Josephine Jordan, of McGregor. All were in attendance at the funeral except Leonard. The funeral services were held at the residence, Rev.. M. H. Smith officiating.
