Clayton County Register, Thur., 14 Dec. 1933.

Lyle G. Rogers, who died at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Moran, here in Elkader, Saturday, December 2, was born at Randalia, Iowa, October 7, 1894, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Rogers.

He attended the public schools in Randalia and Volga City, graduating from the high school in the latter place. August 17, 1918, he was united in marriage with Eva Moran, at Chicago, while he was serving in the army during the World War. For the last twelve years the Rogers have made their home in McGregor, where the deceased several years ago purchased the McGhee barber shop.

Mr. Rogers was popular in his community, having served as an officer in the Legion post of that place and holding a membership in the fire department of the river city. It was, therefore, a shock to his friends in that community when it was learned that he had died at the Moran home here after only a few days illness. Death was due to peritonitis, following an emergency operation for appendicitis.

Besides his widow, he is survived by three sons, "Bill," 14; "Bud," 12, and Jack, 4; his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Rogers, and two brothers, Harold and Hardy, all of Volga City.

Funeral services were held here (next several words blurred) home with the McGregor post of the American Legion in charge of the services. The Rev. J. Franklin Parsons, Congregational minister of McGregor, officiated. Interment was made in the East Side cemetery.
