Mrs. Knute Knutson was the oldest child of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Jacobson and was born on the 26th day of December, 1862, in Opdal, Numedal, Norway. Mrs. Knutson was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church in Norway.
In the year 1885 she was married to Knute Knutson and this union was blessed with seven children, three sons and four daughters, all of whom mourn her departure, namely: Mrs. Arnold Mueller, Knut and Gullick of Postville; Mrs. Ole Anderson of Dodgeville, Wis.; Jacob of Norway Valley, Canada; Mrs. Ole Tollefson and Jennie of Norway; 16 grandchildren, two brothers and two sisters, besides many other relatives and friends.
Mr. Knutson died Nov. 12, 1914. After the father's death, Knut, the oldest son who had been in America six years, came home to be with his mother.
Two years later the family came to America to make their future home. She settled at Dodgeville, Wis. making her home with her daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Ole Anderson.
Later she moved to St. Olaf and made her home with her oldest son, for three years. The remainder of her life she spent with her daughter, Mr. and Mrs. A. Mueller, near Gunder.
Mrs. Knutson died at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Mueller on Saturday morning, Aug. 5th. She reached the age of 70 years, seven months and 11 days. Mrs. Knutson was a patient sufferer, a loving mother to the family and a friendly neighbor.
Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon at the Marion church and she was buried in the Gunder cemetery, where she will await the resurrection day. The Rev. S. J. Strandjord of St. Olaf officiated.
