Volga: Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at the Presbyterian church here for Mrs. William Peterson. Rev. Edward Fikse, pastor, officiated, assisted by Rev. Wade of the Christian church of Oelwein. Interment was made in the Hill Crest cemetery. The casket was borne by George Belden, Glen Moats, Ted Whitford, Clifford Brandt, Hardie Rogers and Leland Smith.

The deceased is survived by her bereaved husband, three children, Russell, Donna and Doris, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. K. Lendman, and one sister, Mrs. Harry Rinkert of Volga.

Mrs. William Peterson, nee Lena Lendman, was born August 14, 1897, at Osborne, Iowa. When three years old she moved with her parents to Oelwein, where they lived two years, before moving to Colorado. At the age of ten years they moved to Volga City, where she gained her education in the local high school, graduating in the year of 1913. She was employed in the former Farmers State Bank here as assistant cashier for six years. On Dec. 22, 1926, she was united in marriage to William F. Peterson of Oelwein, where they have since made their home. Mrs. Peterson had been in the home of her parents the last three weeks, and on Tuesday, May 2, passed away, following a brief illness with pneumonia.

The following out-of-town relatives and friends attended the funeral: Henry Peterson, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Peterson and two children of St. Louis, Mo.; Mr. and Mrs. Roy Jones, Mrs. Larry Garaghty of St. Paul, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. George Jellings, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Jellings, Mr. and Mrs. J. Erbs and son Rupert, Mr. and Mrs. L. Johnson and two daughters of Oelwein; Mr. and Mrs. Westendorf and daughter of Edgewood; Mrs. Ray Kellogg of Strawberry Point; Mrs. Lizzie Heiden, Mrs. Annie Glesne, Mrs. Milda Meyers, Mrs. Art Eckheart and Mrs. Jennie Bachtell of Elkader; Mrs. Emma Layton of La Porte City; Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Peake, Mrs. Lester Stahl, Mrs. M. M. Scott, Mrs. Milton Klink, August Stahl, Chas. Heiden, George Feller, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Stahl and Amy and Gerald of Osborne; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Ewing of West Union; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Behrens, Mr. and Mrs. Christ Behrens and John Lenheart of Littleport; Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Eckheart, Ferdinand Staudt and daughter Lucile, Mrs. Ed. Opperman, Gertrude Eckheart of Arlington. The ladies of the Christian church of Oelwein attended the funeral in a body.
