Funeral services for Matthias Fousek were held on Thursday morning at 9 o'clock from St. Mary's Catholic church. Requiem mass was celebrated by the Rev. P. J. Boyle. The beautiful hymn "Anima Christi." was rendered by Gernon Ivory. The pall bearers were Frank Burke, Tim Glennon, W. J. Byrnes, John Yonda, Vincent Yonda, and Joe Ivory. Interment was made in the strawberry Point cemetery.
Matthias Joseph Fousek was born at Anamosa Nov. 16, 1874, and died at his home 2 1/2 miles northwest of town, Tuesday, after a short illness. At Anamosa he grew to manhood. In 1908 he was united in marriage to Miss Katherine Newton. Three years later they moved to a farm near Lamont, where they resided a few years, later moving to another farm in that vicinity. In 1932 they moved to a farm 2 1/2 miles northwest of town, where he has since resided. The deceased was a good citizen and highly respected by all who knew him. He was a devout Catholic, a kind and loving husband and father and will be missed in the home. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife, one daughter and two sons: Mrs. Harold (Vera) Nodurft, George and Claire, and one grandchild; also four brothers and three sisters, besides other relatives and a host of friends.
