Funeral services for Mrs. Lydia Canoe, aged 73 years, were held at two o'clock Thursday afternoon from the First Methodist church. Rev. Louis H. Joslin officiating, with burial in the city cemetery. Mrs. Canoe lived on the Canoe farm north of Monona and several weeks ago, when she became sick, was taken to the home of her son, Ray Canoe, near McGregor, where she died at six o'clock Monday morning. Surviving are her three sons, Ray Canoe of McGregor, James Canoe of Charles City, and Ross W. Canoe of Monona; three daughters, Mrs. Fay Larson of Frederick, South Dakota, Mrs. Myrtle Koontz of Burbank, Calif., and Mrs. Margaret Peterson of Wyandotte, Mich.; one sister, Mrs. Mary Brooke of Roselind, La., and a number of grandchildren. Mrs. Canoe was a good neighbor and good mother, and has many friends who will miss her. The sympathy of the community is extended the Canoes in their loss.
