Fred J. C. Lembke, son of Mr. and Mrs. Franz Lembke, was born on the farm in Read township, Clayton county, Iowa, August 24, 1873, and died at his home in Elkader on Monday morning, Nov. 5, 1928, at 1:50 o'clock.
Mr. Lembke was confirmed in the Lutheran church at Clayton Center, and remained a faithful member of this church up to the time of his death.
On February 22, 1900, he was united in marriage to Miss Minnie Kalke, and to this union was born one daughter, Lucy, now Mrs. Lawrence Glawe.
Mr. and Mrs. Lembke lived on the farm in Read township until four years ago when they moved to Elkader.
One sister and his parents preceded Mr. Lembke in death, and besides his wife, daughter and one granddaughter, he leaves to mourn his untimely death, three sisters, Mrs. Wm. Lamker of Monona, Mrs. Mary Hulverson of this city, and Emma Lembke of Giard, and George Lembke of Read township.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 1:00 o'clock at the house, Rev. Franke officiating, and at 2:00 o'clock at the Lutheran church at Clayton Center, Rev. Ahrens officiating. Interment was made at Clayton Center.
