Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 24 Nov. 1910. Local News column.
The dread harvester, Death, let fall his scythe and almost without warning a young life passed from our circle.
Miss Juliet Tieden, of Cox Creek township, died last Sunday morning at Fort Dodge, Iowa, of appendicitis. She was taken sick on the train while on her way to visit her sister and became to ill to go farther, so she was taken to the hospital, at Fort Dodge. Her sister was notified and reached her before her death but all efforts to save her life were unavailing.
Juliet Tieden was born Oct. 30th, 1890, and so was just over twenty years of age. She was educated in the schools near her home, and at Elkader and had a wide circle of friends who will miss her. In the family circle she leaves her father, five brothers and five sisters to mourn her untimely death.
She was brought home Tuesday night and the funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon in the Congregational church, at this place, Rev. Wm. Braun, of Garnavillo, preaching an impressive sermon to the many friends assembled. Interment was made in the East Side cemetery.
The sympathy of our entire community goes out to the family in their sudden bereavement.
