BALL, CHILDERS

Monday evening's passenger brought the corpse of Jim Ball here for burial. His home was near Lamont. He went to Britt to assist in caring for sick ones in a brother's family. While there he died of heart trouble. As the disease of his brother's family was of a contagious nature (diphtheria), the authorities here ordered the corpse to be taken directly to the cemetery from the train. Besides his family, several brothers and sisters mourn his loss.

Mrs. John Childers, of Warren, Ills., came last Monday morning to be present at the burial of his brother, Jim Ball.

~Elkader Register, Friday, April 17, 1896 (Strawberry Point column)

Note: Burial is most likely in the Strawberry Point cemetery, but he may not have a stone marking his grave. Burial place should be verified by interested researchers.
