Found a Watery Grave - On Sunday morning as Charles Wolfe, about 4 miles below the city, was hauling in his troute lines he discovered the body of a man hooked on his lines. He drew him in shore and notified the authorities. Isaac Matthews, Esq., with the requisite number for a jury of inquest repaired to the scene.

The body was recognized as that of Thomas Wynn, who has resided in this city and at Ion, in Allamakee county. His home is in Taylor township, in that county. Two sisters are living in this city. He was in this city visiting, and while here and stopping at the Hellberg House was taken with a fever.

Two weeks ago to-day, his sister, who was attending him, left him for a few moments to obtain medicine when he took advantage of her absence and disappeared. All search for him was unavailing; he could no where be found, nor was any trace of him obtained. It is supposed that he went direct from the hotel to the river and threw himself into the water.

On his person was found a few letters and $1.20 in money. The report that he had a large sum of money on her person has no foundation; his sisters say that the sum found in his pockets was about what he was known to have when he so suddenly disappeared. The jury returned a verdict of suicide by drowning.

The remains were brought to the city in interred in the Catholic cemetery. Mr. Wynn was about 28 years of age, a hard worker and industrious.

Note: Allamakee county cemetery records indicate his burial is in Paint Rock, aka St. Joseph's Catholic cemetery, Taylor twp., Allamakee county. He was very likely the son of William & Catherine Wynn.
