Larkin, Michael 1812-1886

At his home near Littleport, on January 16 1886, occurred the death of Michael Larkin, an old and respected citizen of our county.

Deceased was a native of Ireland, having been born in County Claire, in 1812, being 74 years of age at the time of his death.

He came to America when about 24 years of age, and settled near Littleport, this county, some 39 years ago, being among the earliest settlers.

He leaves a wife and one child, William, who is employed with Meyers, Tice & Co., Dubuque. The funeral occurred on the Monday following his death, from the Catholic church at Littleport, services being conducted by Rev. Father Corbett, of Elkport.

Mr. Larkin was highly respected by all who knew him, and his death will be sincerely mourned. May he rest in peace.

Note: Burial is in Sacred Heart cemetery, Littleport. His wife Ellen died in 1887 and is buried next to him.
