Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 11 June 1908.
At 6:15 Saturday morning, after an illness of several weeks, Charles Meklenburg [sic] passed away at his home in Elkader. He was born in Germany April 28th, 1838. In 1864 he married Sophia File. In 18__ they came to America, and after living eighteen months in Chicago came to Boardman township. Later they moved onto a farm in Highland township. About three years ago they came to Elkader to reside. Nine children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Meklenburg, of whom only three, Charles, William and Ella, with the aged wife, survive the loss of husband and father.
The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at the German church, Rev. J. G. Dickey officiating. The remains were then taken to Volga City for interment.

Charles Mecklenburg was buried Sunday in the Volga cemetery. He had formerly lived in Highland township, but moved to Elkader a few years ago. He died Saturday morning and services were held in Elkader, Sunday.
